Continuing
in rich tradition, the Anchorage Lions Club's 17th Annual Golf
Tournament benefiting Covenant House Alaska was an outstanding
success.
We
enjoyed a full course with 132 players on 27 teams. Additionally
this year, Long Drive Professional Golfer, Josh Olson joined us
at the tournament. He helped raise money for CHA by taking the
drive for teams on Hole #3, selling golf drivers from which CHA
directly received $50 for each one sold, and from private driving
clinics and playing lessons. With the help of the Anchorage Lions,
Josh Olson, corporate sponsors, prize donors, a small army of
volunteers and local businesses contributing in-kind donations,
this event raised over $30,000 to help CHA meet the needs of homeless,
runaway and at-risk youth in Alaska.
Specifically,
an extra special THANK YOU goes to GCI. Not only did GCI
come through with a check as the Tournament Underwriter, they
also were represented by 5 teams on the course. Thank you to Tony
Lewkowski, CHA Board member and GCI VP of Operations, for his
role in raising money and teams for the tournament and encouraging
us to invite Josh Olson to the event. Another special thank you
to Scott and Tish Caddell for preparing the extraordinary food
and for putting a smile on everyone's faces.
Our
deepest thanks to all the players, Lions, volunteers, and sponsors
who helped make the tournament such an incredible success!
Thank you for helping our kids. We hope
to see you again next year.
