Host Your Own Donation Drive

Our team always needs certain items, and hosting a donation drive for any of the following is one of the best ways to support what we do.
  • Winter Gear: Hats, gloves, scarves, boots, coats
  • Clothing: Hoodies, sweatpants/joggers, shoes
  • Underwear & Socks: New, unopened packs only
  • Travel-Size Toiletries: Unopened containers of shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant
  • Personal Care Products: Unopened packs of menstrual hygiene items, razors
  • Bedding: New twin-size sheet & pillowcase sets, new pillows

Host a Kit-Packing Event

Gather friends, family, or community members to pack kits for youth in need of support. Your unused items can transform a young person’s future.

Types of Kits

Kits can be packed into bags or boxes that you no longer need; reusable shopping bags or cardboard boxes are great. Please make sure the container you choose is clean.

We request complete kits, so that the youth each kit goes to will have everything they need.

Our Housing team needs your help to support young people as they move into their first independent homes.

After working hard to build stability, many youth leave our program with nothing but a few personal belongings. That’s where Housing Starter Kits come in. These kits are filled with basic household essentials to help them settle in and feel truly at home.

Each Housing Starter Kit costs about $114

ALL ITEMS MUST BE NEW AND UNOPENED

Kits include:

  • Laundry bag
  • Laundry detergent
  • Box of dryer sheets
  • Bath towel set (bath towel, hand towel, wash cloths)
  • Shower curtain liner
  • Toilet plunger
  • Toilet brush
  • Toilet bowl cleaner
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • All-purpose cleaning spray
  • Bottle of dishwasher soap
  • Pack of sponges
  • Box of kitchen-sized trash bags

We kindly ask for complete Kits rather than individual items so each young person starts with everything they need from day one.

Host a Care Bag Making Event

Gather your friends, co-workers, or community group and spend a few hours assembling Care Bags together! You can host the event at your convenience, and we will guide you through the process. Your group will gather supplies, assemble the bags, and coordinate drop-off with our team.

How to Get Started

  1. Pick a Location: Choose where you want to host your donation drive, whether it’s at work, school, or a local community center.
  2. Spread the Word: Use flyers, social media, and word-of-mouth to encourage people to participate.
  3. Collect Items: Gather donations and deliver them to Covenant House Alaska or arrange for a pickup.
  4. Track Your Progress: Keep participants updated on how the drive is going and encourage them to keep giving!

Care Bags provide immediate support for youth experiencing homelessness during overnight hours, when full access to our community center is limited. Each bag contains essentials like food, hygiene supplies, and warm items, including comfort and stability in a moment of crisis.
