Our Education & Employment programs expand access and meet the unique needs of each individual.
86% of employers report that entry-level talent requires additional training to succeed. At Covey Academy, we are focused on ensuring workplace preparedness.
Youth who participate in our Lifeskills education are 2x more likely to acquire income, or increase their existing income.
Covey Academy
One of our cornerstone programs for youth education; this unique, innovative program focuses on equipping students with the academic and life skills necessary to succeed in both school and the workforce.
Students Will
- Complete high school or earn their GED.
- Receive individualized tutoring and academic support.
- Develop life skills: from communication and time management to resilience and professionalism, our curriculum is designed to close the gap between potential and performance.
- Participate in job readiness training, including resume building, job interviewing, and workplace etiquette.
When I started coming to the Academy, I started off with nothing and with help from the staff and training here I left with the knowledge and employment to start my journey in life.
Additional Education and Employment Services
In addition to Covey Academy, we offer a wide range of services designed to help youth access education, build job skills, and prepare for employment.
- Career Counseling to explore career options, set goals, and create actionable plans with personalized guidance
- On-Site Anchorage School District Classroom to provide classes for youth working towards a high school diploma or GED
- College and Vocational Referrals assistance for exploring post-secondary education opportunities
- Intern/Externship Opportunities through internships and externships, helping them build their resumes and gain valuable skills
- Life Skills Activities focused on teaching essential life skills like budgeting, time management, and decision-making
- Transportation Assistance to and from school, interviews, and work placements.
- Job Search and Education Workshops to help youth with job searches, career exploration, and educational goals
- Resume and Cover Letter Building support for job applications
- Professional Clothing for interviews and job placements
- Education and Employment Referrals for specialized education and employment resources in the community
- Tutoring to help youth succeed in their education and meet graduation requirements
