Volunteer Opportunities

We could not accomplish our mission here at Covenant House Alaska without volunteers. The time, talent and support that’s provided is essential to everything we do.

As a licensed child care facility and to assure the safety of our youth, direct care volunteer roles require a minimum age of 21 years (28 years for mentors); however, there are other volunteer roles for younger volunteers. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  All volunteers will undergo a background check, and we are unable to accept court ordered community work service volunteers.

Individual Opportunities

There are so many ways for volunteers to support our mission--find what you're passionate about!

For most of our direct-care volunteer roles we seek a long-term, weekly commitment because consistency is really important for the youth we serve. This also requires an extensive application, background check and orientation process.

Those opportunities that are one-time, short-term or non-direct care (meal service, clothing room) have an abbreviated application process.

Group Opportunities

If you represent a business, church, club or other group that would like to volunteer together, we'd love to work with you. Group projects vary depending upon our current needs as well as the availability, size, skills, and budget of the group.
