Important Update on Our Annual Candlelight Vigil

A Time for Remembrance and Reflection

For years, our Candlelight Vigil has been a poignant moment to remember and honor the young lives lost to the perils of homelessness. It has been a powerful way for our community to come together, raise awareness, and reaffirm our commitment to preventing these tragic losses.

Changes for This Year

After thoughtful consideration, we have decided not to hold our traditional Candlelight Vigil event this year. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand many have found meaning and solace in this annual gathering and change can be difficult.

Honoring Youth Homelessness Awareness Month

Although we won't be gathering for our usual vigil, we want to emphasize the importance of November as Youth Homelessness Awareness Month. This month-long observance provides an opportunity for us all to reflect on the challenges faced by homeless youth, honor those we've lost, and recommit ourselves to creating lasting change.

Our Continued Commitment

Our dedication to working tirelessly for young people experiencing homelessness remains unwavering. We are exploring new ways to honor the memory of those we’ve lost and raise awareness about the critical issues facing the youth we continue to serve.

How You Can Join Us in Remembrance

While we won't gather for our usual vigil, there are still meaningful ways to honor the memory of the young lives we've lost:

• Take a moment of silence on November 21^st at 6:30 p.m., the time our vigil would typically begin
• Light a candle in your home in remembrance
• Share stories or messages of hope on social media using #CovenantHouseAK
• Consider donating in memory of those we've lost, to help prevent future tragedies

Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time of change. Together, we will keep the memory of these young lives burning bright and work towards a future where no more young lives are lost to homelessness.
